Coroplast Global | News | 21 Nov 2022 Return - the CoroArt Art Award is back

After a three-year break, the winners of the CoroArt Art Award were finally honored again on November 8. We are very pleased about this, because the promotion of art and culture is very important to the Coroplast Group.

CoroArt - partnership cultural promotion since 2012

Together with the Faculty of Design and Art at the University of Wuppertal, under the expert guidance of art professor Katja Pfeiffer, the Coroplast Group once again organized the CoroArt Art Award this year. This event, now in its seventh year, honors young up-and-coming artists who create outstanding creative works from our products.

With this award, the Coroplast Group actively promotes budding artists and offers them a platform for presenting their works. We also purchase many of the works created to display them permanently at our headquarters in Wuppertal and offer our employees an inspiring environment.

The five jury members of the CoroArt Art Award 2022
The five-member jury of the CoroArt Art Prize 2022 was enthusiastic about the submitted artworks.

An enthusiastic jury and happy winners

This year, around 30 students took part in the competition and presented their ideas on the theme of "stability and change". As usual, the students were able to choose from the Coroplast Group's wide range of adhesive tapes and cables for their works. The best works were recognized and awarded prizes by a top-class jury consisting of (from left to right) Dr. Roland Mönig (Von der Heydt Museum), Constanze Krieger (Coroplast Group), Marc Kox and Prof. Katja Pfeiffer (Bergische Universität Wuppertal) and Natalie Mekelburger (Coroplast Group).

The jurors were faced with a major task this year, as they were impressed by the consistently very high quality and diversity of the work submitted. In the end, the jury decided to award one 1st place and three 2nd places. The lucky winners are:

  • 1st place - Mrs. Julia Schlagowski with "Schichtungswechsel".
  • 2nd place - Franziska Bruns : "Orange Baby
  • 2nd place - Julia Engel with "Hang Loose
  • 2nd place - Kim Williams with "9sqm for Sara Lucas".

A complete success - to be continued

The festive conclusion of this year's competition took place on the premises of the University of Wuppertal. After the award ceremony, the Coroplast Group employees, together with the students, ended the evening in a relaxed atmosphere. The winners also gave short interviews and reported on the creation of their works.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all students who participated and submitted outstanding works. The lively participation and the creative exchange with artists and guests were again a wonderful experience. We are already looking forward to the eighth edition of the CoroArt Art Award.
