German Golf Team Championship: GC Hubbelrath wins the Final Four 2021
With an exceptional performance, GC Hubbelrath wins the 2021 German Team Championship. After the Düsseldorf team made a furious comeback from an almost uncatchable deficit against GC St. Leon-Rot in the semifinals and finally defeated the team from Baden-Württemberg in a playoff to reach the final early Sunday morning, the team led by coach Roland Becker secured the championship title in an equally closely contested final. The final score against the defending champions Hamburger GC was 7.5:4.5. As a long-time partner and sponsor of the club, the Coroplast Group congratulates the entire team on the successful end of the season and the well-deserved championship title.

In the match against GC St. Leon-Rot on the first day of the Final Four, the Düsseldorf team won their last three matches all on the last hole, thus forcing GC St. Leon-Rot into a play-off for a place in the final. This was not played until the next day. But early on Sunday morning, GC Hubbelrath left no more doubts. Johannes Lube won his match against Petr Hruby after one hole. Luis Obiols secured the second victory against Jiri Zuska after two lanes and thus a spot in the final.
Hard fought match for the championship
The championship match was played at Golf Club Gut Kaden in Alveslohe.In the final match, Hamburg GC, which started the final days as group winner North after a solid season, led 4:0 for a long time. Only late in the foursomes did GC Hubbelrath provide the important equalizer at 2:2. For the singles, the team thus kept all its chances open. The eight singles matches then showed once again that the players from GC Hubbelrath are among the best hole players in Germany. The match between Johannes Lube (GC Hubbelrath) and Philipp Westermann (Hamburger GC) decided the match. Lube secured the championship title for the team by winning the hole to 2 up - again catching up, again winning.
